8/10 Soto rests shoulder
Geovany Soto was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, retroactive to Saturday, with a mild ligament sprain in his right shoulder.
“I was hoping after a couple days rest [it would be OK] but it flared up a little bit,” Soto said. “I know the team can’t wait and we need somebody else here. I think it’ll be a couple more days and nothing after this.”
Soto, who got a cortisone shot on Saturday, said his shoulder bothers him when he’s hitting, not throwing.
“It flares up swinging, finishing the swing when I stretch my arm out I feel it sometimes,” he said.
Soto said the discomfort is something new.
“I’ve never had anything like this,” he said.
