8/16 Minor matters

Back after a break in the action …

* Jae-Hoon Ha hit for the cycle to help Peoria bet Kane County, 8-4, on Sunday. It was the first cycle by a Chiefs player in 11 seasons. Ha singled in the second, homered in the fourth, and drove in a run on a fielder’s choice in the fifth. He hit a RBI triple in the eighth to tie the game at 4. With two outs and a runner on in the ninth, Ha doubled to right to complete the cycle. The last cycle by a Chiefs player was May 23, 1999, when Troy McNaughton did so.
On Saturday, Peoria snapped its four-game losing streak with a 4-3 win over Kane County.

* On Friday, Micah Hoffpauir rejoined Iowa and picked up where he left off. He collected two hits for the I-Cubs in a 5-0 win over Fresno, which extended his hitting streak to 19 games. Austin Bibens-Dirkx threw seven shutout innings for the win. On Saturday, Hoffpauir made it 20 straight games, hitting his 21st home run in Iowa’s 13-12 win over Fresno. He finished with three RBIs in the game. Jim Adduci and Robinson Chirinos also homered for Iowa.

* Matt Spencer hit a three-run homer to help Tennessee beat Chattanooga, 8-4, on Friday. Russ Canzler hit his 18th homer to lift the Smokies to a 3-2 win over Chattanooga on Saturday. Craig Muschko picked up the win and now is 8-3.

* Rain postponed Friday’s Daytona game. On Saturday, the Daytona Cubs split a doubleheader against Dunedin, winning the first game 2-1 and losing the second, 4-3. DJ LeMahieu went 3-6 in the two games with two doubles and an RBIs. He has a 16-game hitting streak and is batting .446 in that stretch.

* On Saturday, Arismendy Alcantara had four hits, including his third home run, and two RBIs in Boise’s 7-6 win over Everett.
