8/17 Minor matters

Jeff Samardzija gave up one unearned run on four hits over six innings in Iowa’s 5-3 win over Fresno Monday. Marquez Smith, Brad Snyder and Robinson Chirinos all homered to back Samardzija, now 10-2 with a 3.05 ERA. Snyder had two hits, including his 20th home run, and two RBIs.

Rafael Dolis gave up seven runs on five hits over 3 2/3 innings in Tennessee’s 8-2 loss to Chattanooga. Brandon Guyer had three hits and extended his hitting streak to 17 games.

DJ LeMahieu had three hits but it wasn’t enough as Daytona lost 5-3 to Tampa. LeMahieu notched his 13th three-hit game of the season.

One day after hitting for the cycle, Jae-Hoon Ha had three hits in Peoria’s 4-0 win over Kane County. Su-Min Jung threw three scoreless innings but Jeffrey Antigua picked up the win, pitching five scoreless innings in relief.

Juan Yasser Serrano threw five shutout innings, giving up one hit, in Boise’s 7-3 loss to Everett. Serrano struck out six.

Austin Reed threw four scoreless innings in Mesa’s 5-2 win over the Angels. Mesa totaled 11 hits. Joseph Zeller picked up the win with three innings in relief.
