8/19 Walk-a-thon for 22q
Want to walk for a good cause? On Saturday, you can join Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster in the “Slow and Steady Walk for 22q” in Glen Ellyn, Ill. All proceeds from the event will benefit the genetics department at Chicago’s Children’s Memorial Hospital, the 22q11 Awareness Foundation, and “Big Love, Little Hearts.” The cost is $22 for adults and $11 for children. Participants receive a t-shirt and goody bag. You’ll walk 2.2 miles through suburban Glen Ellyn to raise awareness of 22q. Registration begins at 9 a.m. CT and the walk will begin at Lake Ellyn Park, 645 Lenox Road, Glen Ellyn, Ill.
