8/23 Minor matters
Jay Jackson gave up two runs on six hits over five innings as Iowa beat Nashville, 3-2, on Sunday. Jackson struck out six. Jeff Stevens converted his fifth save of the season with a scoreless ninth.
One day after going 5-for-5, Steve Clevenger went 3-for-3 in Tennessee’s 11-2 win over Mississippi. Rafael Dolis gave up one run on four hits over five innings for the win. Clevenger hit a double, a homer and drove in four runs. Matt Spencer added his 17th home run.
Daytona’s game was postponed because of inclement weather.
Peoria stranded 11 runners on base in a 4-2 loss to Clinton. Justin Bour, Hak-Ju Lee and Jae-Hoon Ha each had two hits.
Alvaro Ramirez had two hits but it wasn’t enough as Boise lost 4-3 to Vancouver. Brent Ebinger took the loss, giving up two runs on six hits over 4 1/3 innings.
Brian Shields posted his 13th multi-hit game of the year in Mesa’s 7-5 win over the Giants.
