8/26 Minor matters
Mitch Atkins threw six shutout innings but Iowa lost 2-0 in 11 innings on Scott Thorman’s walk-off homer for Omaha on Wednesday. Bryan LaHair had three hits and Jeff Gray threw two scoreless innings in relief.
Brett Jackson hit his fifth home run but it wasn’t enough as Tennessee lost 5-4 to West Tenn. Jackson’s homer in the eighth, a solo shot, tied the game at 4. Jeremy Papelbon gave up one run on three hits over three innings in the spot start.
Evan Crawford hit a walk-off sac fly in the ninth to lift Daytona to a 2-1 win over Clearwater. Jeffrey Beliveau picked up the win, pitching one inning in relief.
Ryan Searle gave up six runs on 11 hits over 4 2/3 innings in Peoria’s 6-3 loss to Cedar Rapids in the first game of a doubleheader. Matt Cerda homered and has at least one RBIs in his last five games. In the second game, Hak-Ju Lee notched his 34th multi-hit game in a 10-5 win over Cedar Rapids.
Boise scored five runs in the third to beat Tri-City, 7-6. Pierre LePage had three hits and three stolen bases. Arismendy Alcantara had two hits for his 14th multi-hit game of the season.
