8/31 Byrd to rest Wednesday
Expect Cubs outfielder Marlon Byrd to get a day off Wednesday. The center fielder has some soreness but said after Tuesday’s game it was usual in-season aches and pains.
“This guy plays hard, hard and harder,” Cubs manager Mike Quade said. “I talked to him a little bit today. You can’t get him out of the lineup. We’ll give him a breather [Wednesday] and that will give him two days. He’s a big tough guy who plays the game hard every day. He looks to me to be a little banged up. We’ll give him a break tomorrow.”
