Rookie Starlin Castro totaled 41 hits in the month of August, the most by a Cubs rookie in any month since Hall of Famer Ernie Banks had 43 in August 1954. Castro’s 41 hits were third in the National League behind Atlanta’s Omar Infante (43) and Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun (42).
Castro has two hits Wednesday through five innings to raise his average to .318. It’s his 25th multi-hit game.
