9/2 Minor matters
On Wednesday, the Iowa Cubs scored nine runs in the ninth to beat Albuquerque, 15-13. Jason Dubois had two homers and Marquez Smith connected for the second straight game. Smith also drove in four runs. Dubois had six RBIs and was batting .444 in his last eight games.
Iowa has a tough final series against Memphis, starting Friday at Principal Park in Des Moines. The I-Cubs are in first place in the Northern Division.
* Brett Jackson hit his sixth home run to help Tennessee beat Jacksonville, 9-4. Jackson finished with three RBIs while Blake Lalli had two hits and was batting .391 in his last six games. Brandon Guyer and Russ Canzler each had three hits.
* Alberto Cabrera threw seven shutout innings to help Daytona beat Clearwater 2-0 in the first game of a doubleheader. He struck out six and did not walk a batter. Michael Brenly, Mario Mercedes and Evan Crawford each had two hits. In the second game, Alex Maestri picked up his first save in a 5-2 win. Chris Siegfried picked up the win, giving up two hits over 2 1/3 innings.
* Carlos Silva took the loss in Peoria’s 7-0 loss to Kane County. Silva gave up five runs on six hits over 4 2/3 innings and struck out four in his second rehab outing.
* Cam Greathouse gave up three hits over six shutout innings to help Boise beat Spokane, 11-2. Dustin Harrington went 5-for-5 with one RBIs and Pierre LePage and Arismendy Alcantara each had three hits.
