9/7 Cubs call-ups – UPDATED
The Cubs called up five players from Triple-A Iowa including outfielders Sam Fuld and Brad Snyder, infielder Bobby Scales, and pitchers Jeff Samardzija and Justin Berg. Also, Carlos Silva was activated from the DL to start Tuesday. For those of you keeping count, the Cubs placed John Grabow and Esmailin Caridad on the 60-day disabled list, which made room on the 40-man for Snyder and Scales.

Carrie, is there any indication that Snyder will get some playing time? The guy was a first rounder, a top prospect and absolutely tore the cover off the ball this year at Iowa but has never been given a chance. He has left handed power and speed, he deserves a shot.
Unfortunately, when you have an interim manager he’s not going to do what’s best for the team in the long run he’s going to try to win to get himself a job. Hence, playing Xavier Nady at 1st everyday. It’s too bad because Colvin and Hoffpauir could be getting looks. I’m worried the same will happen with Snyder in favor of playing Soriano/Fukudome trying to win meaningless games.
