9/14 Smokies win opener
Robinson Chirinos hit a three-run homer and Brandon Guyer added a solo shot to lead
Tennessee to a 5-0 victory Tuesday night over West Tenn in the first game of the Southern League championship. Game 2 of the best of five series will be played Wednesday. Chris Archer threw six shutout innings, giving up four hits and striking out eight for the win. The game was scoreless until the Smokies’ fourth when Brett Jackson hit a RBI double and Chirinos connected. Guyer added a solo homer with one out in the sixth.
