9/20 Soto has successful surgery
Geovany Soto underwent successful right shoulder arthroscopy Monday to address pain in the AC joint. The procedure, which took one hour, was done at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago by team orthopedic specialist, Dr. Stephen Gryzlo. Soto was sent home after the procedure and expected at Wrigley Field this week for the Cubs’ final homestand.
The catcher will take three months to rehab and was expected to resume baseball activities by Jan. 1. By doing the surgery now, Soto will have plenty of time to prepare for the 2011 season. He bounced back from a down season in ’09 to hit .280 this year with 17 home runs, 19 doubles and 53 RBIs.
