10/17 AFL update
Cubs prospect Josh Vitters drove in four runs, including three on his first homer, to help the Mesa Solar Sox beat Peoria Saguaros, 10-1, on Saturday in an Arizona Fall League game in Mesa. Vitters, who started at third, hit a three-run homer in a six-run fourth inning and added a sacrifice fly in the eighth. Cubs pitching prospect Kyle Smit picked up the win in relief, pitching two scoreless innings. The Solar Sox have Sunday off and resume play Monday against the Peoria Javelinas.

Vitters is already making good money playing in the minors & he seems to be producing. Don’t you guys think if Rameriez can make a move to first base and let Vitter’s play third, that the big club will have enough money to go out and get a #1 starter. Maybe if the baseball gods are on our side we will still be able to make it under the new lower budget Rickett’s set and compete inside the division.
