2/8 Caribbean Series final
Mexico won the Caribbean Series with a 3-2 win Monday over Venezuela, finishing the round robin tournament with a 4-2 record. Puerto Rico’s 3-0 loss to the Dominican Republic dropped the team to 3-3 record and gave Mexico the title. Lou Montanez, who will be in the Cubs’ camp this spring, went 0-for-4 for Puerto Rico in its final game. Raul Valdes, a Cuban pitcher on the Cardinals’ roster, threw 7 2/3 shutout innings for the Dominican team.
