3/3 Z goes 3 innings despite fatigue
Carlos Zambrano, who will be the Cubs’ No. 2 starter, gave up two hits, both singles, and walked two over three scoreless innings in his second Cactus League start. The right-hander said he had a little fatigue in his arm.
“I wasn’t feeling that good today,” Zambrano said. “My arm was tired. Getting in shape — it happens. It’s Spring Training. I was pitching with three days rest. It’s not that I wasn’t feeling good but I was kind of like fatigued.”
Zambrano wasn’t concerned, and said he often goes through this in spring.
“I was able to get out of situations — ground ball, double play — and a little scary moment with [Josh] Hamilton but this is Spring Training and time to build my arm and get ready for the season,” Zambrano said.
The Hamilton moment came in the third when the Rangers outfielder flew out to the warning track in right to end the inning and strand two runners.
Zambrano was asked if he had any comment on Carlos Silva’s dugout skirmish on Wednesday.
“What happened?” Zambrano said. “What about him? I can’t comment. I wasn’t there.”
