3/22 Aramis Ramirez update
Third baseman Aramis Ramirez, bothered by a fever, was back in camp Tuesday and took batting practice. He may play Wednesday, manager Mike Quade said. Ramirez has not played since Friday. He was sent home Saturday with a 102-degree fever.
“I was somewhat impressed,” Quade said of Ramirez’s appearance on Tuesday. “I know he’s not feeling good and he looked me in the eye and said, ‘I want to play tomorrow.’ I’ve liked his swing all spring and with a veteran guy I’m not as concerned.”

Hi Carrie,
I’m glad to hear that Aramis is ready to play and dedicated to getting his cuts in. I have been very impressed with him since he became a Cub. He really turned a floundering career around here and has become one of the most reliable clutch hitters in baseball. I’m concerned that he wouldn’t work with Jamarillo last year. I have to believe that guys like Aramis and Lee are smart enough to know that at some point in your career you begin to lose a bit of that quickness you had in your prime. Your coaches are there to help you adjust to those physical changes.
Aramis, your body is changing. You’re going to have hair sprouting up in places you haven’t had it before. Remember, it’s a natural process and there’s no shame asking for help.
