5/2 Cubs lineup

Reed Johnson is starting in right field Monday night for the Cubs in the first game of a three-game series against the Dodgers. Lefty James Russell is starting against southpaw Clayton Kershaw. The Cubs have hit .294 against left-handed pitchers and they are 5-2 compared to a 7-13 record against right-handers. Here’s the lineup:

SS Castro

2B Barney

CF Byrd

3B Ramirez

C Soto

LF Soriano

1B Pena

RF Johnson

P Russell

* Also note that Marlon Byrd is a career .389 batter in 27 games against the Dodgers, which includes a .455 average in nine games at Dodger Stadium.

* Darwin Barney’s 29 hits in the first month of the season were the most by a Cubs rookie since Kosuke Fukudome had 32 hits and Geovany Soto 29 in 2008.
