5/4 Minor League report
J.R. Mathes gave up seven runs — all in the first inning — in Iowa’s 9-3 loss to Round Rock on Tuesday. Mathes now is 1-2 with an 8.71 ERA.
Matt Spencer hit his fourth homer but it wasn’t enough s Tennessee lost 8-6 to Mobile. Starter Alberto Cabrera gave up five runs on nine hits over five innings.
Brett Wallach gave up one run on four hits over six innings in Daytona’s 8-3 win over Tampa. He struck out nine. Nelson Perez hit his fourth homer and Evan Crawford had four hits.
Richard Jones had two hits, including his fourth home run, in Peoria’s 3-2, 10-inning loss to Burlington.
