5/30 Soriano out of game

Alfonso Soriano had to leave Monday’s game in the first inning with a left quad strain. He will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury. He grabbed his leg steps after crossing first base trying to beat a throw from third. Blake DeWitt took over in left. If Soriano has to go on the DL, he’ll join a long list. Reed Johnson (back), Jeff Baker (groin), Marlon Byrd (face), Andrew Cashner (shoulder) and Matt Garza (elbow) are already on the DL. And, who comes up? The Cubs tapped into the Double-A roster on Monday, adding DJ LeMahieu to take Baker’s spot. Could Tyler Colvin be back? We’ll see. Soriano was the Cubs’ RBI and home run leader with 29 and 12, respectively.

Today was ugly. This is one way of getting more youngsters up from the minors, but the problem I see is a lack of leadership and the lack of discipline. So even if these young players are brought up, things will remain the same until the leadership is changed.

To put DeWitt (really no offense against him…) in LF to replace the finally injured, OLD Soriano instead of an actual OUTFIELDER speaks volumes about Quade and Hendry.
An injury to Soriano (or Ramirez or Pena) is the only way they will be replaced on the field by Quade. I don’t think Hendry’s puppet has it in him to bench any one of those three “RBI guys”
of his own accord, this may be the only managing gig he ever gets and can’t show up his master.
