6/3 Minor League report – UPDATED
Welington Castillo, Bobby Scales and Bryan LaHair each homered but it wasn’t enough as Iowa lost to Nashville, 15-11. Austin Bibens-Dirx gave up six runs on nine hits over four innings and did not get a decision. Scales finished with four RBIs.
Nelson Perez went 3-for-3 with a RBI in Tennessee’s 3-2 win over Huntsville. Trey McNutt started and gave up two runs on four hits over two innings. He had to leave the game because of soreness in his ribs. McNutt apparently bruised his rib cage in a collision five days ago and tried to pitch through the injury. He will miss his next start, and there is no timetable for his return.
Aaron Kurcz gave up five runs, two earned, on three hits and four walks over two innings in Daytona’s 10-1 loss to Charlotte. Evan Crawford and Justin Bour each had two hits. Five Daytona Cubs were named to the Florida State League mid-season All-Star team, including Bour, Crawford, Kurcz, Frank Batista and Junior Lake.
Matt Szczur had four hits, including his third homer, and stole a base and Ryan Cuneo homered in Peoria’s 11-5 win over Lansing. Cuneo finished with thre hits and four RBIs.
* Robert Coello, released by Triple-A Iowa after going 3-5 with a 7.82 ERA in nine starts, has been added to the Double-A Smokies roster.
