6/5 Sunday pre-game notes

Carlos Zambrano, who will close the Cubs’ series against the Cardinals on Sunday, is 6-0 with a 1.80 ERA in seven career starts at Busch Stadium. He’s one of 15 pitchers in the ballpark’s history (since 2006) with at least six wins and the only non-Cardinal on the list. Big Z’s 71 career road wins rank tied for sixth-most in franchise history (since 1900) with Greg Maddux. Z is one behind Fergie Jenkins, who is fifth with 72 road wins. Hippo Vaughn is fourth with 76.

Since the start of the ’06 season, Zambrano is tied with CC Sabathia for most road wins in basebal with 47 each.

* Saturday’s loss dropped the Cubs to 7-18 against NL Central teams. The 18 losses are the second-most by any club against its own division this year. The Nationals have the most, going 13-19 against NL East teams.

* The Cubs are batting .281, tops in the Majors. But they’re hitting .233 with runners in scoring position, which ranks 13th in the NL and 25th in MLB.

* Who will be the next Cub? The First-Year Player Draft begins Monday at 7 p.m. ET and the Cubs have the ninth pick overall. Rounds 2-30 begin Tuesday at noon ET and rounds 31-50 begin Wednesday at noon ET.

It’s time for Quade to go, and Hendry for that matter. They put together a minor league team this year and they make decisions that only hurt the club. If the Rickett’s ever want to put this 100 year losing streak to an end they need to invest in a major league caliber manager, and stop letting Jim Hendry put minor league teams in Cubs’ uniforms!
