Fernando Perez had two hits, scored four runs and stole a base in Iowa’s 9-8 come from behind victory over Omaha on Sunday. Casey Coleman gave up two runs, one earned, on one hit and two walks over six innings, striking out seven, but did not get a decision. Marcos Mateo picked up the win in relief.
Brett Jackson hit a walkoff RBI single to lift Tennessee to a 6-5 victory over Jackson. The outfielder is starting to get his swing back after missing time because of a finger injury on his left hand. “I was fortunate enough that the injury wasn’t as serious as it could have been,” Jackson said. Blake Lalli had two hits and three RBIs.
Dae-Eun Rhee gave up three runs on three hits and one walk over six innings in Daytona’s 10-4 win over Brevard County. Jake Optiz had three hits, including his fourth homer, and Michael Burgess had three hits and two RBIs.
Hayden Simpson, the Cubs’ No. 1 Draft pick a year ago, gave up three runs on three hits over 4 2/3 innings in Peoria’s 6-2 loss to Great Lakes. Simpson struck out four and is 1-3 with a 4.96 ERA.
