6/13 Minor League report
Jay Jackson gave up five runs on nine hits over six innings in Iowa’s 9-2 loss to Round Rock on Sunday. Welington Castillo hit his sixth homer, extending his hitting streak to 11 games. Alfonso Soriano went 0-for-3 in his first game since injuring his left quad. Soriano did not take part in a bench-clearing scuffle in the seventh inning — he was out of the game by then. He said his leg was about 90 percent.
“I’m anxious to play baseball again for Chicago,” Soriano said. “I’m anxious to help my team win.”
Dallas Beeler gave up four runs on six hits over five innings in Tennessee’s 8-3 loss to Carolina. Brett Jackson and Nelson Perez each had two hits and one RBIs.
Matt Cerda had three hits and two RBIs to help Daytona beat Clearwater, 6-1. Eduardo Figueroa earned the win in relief, giving up four hits over four scoreless innings.
Austin Kirk threw six shutout innings to help Peoria complete a sweep of South Bend with a 5-1 victory. Kirk struck out seven and now is 4-2 with a 1.79 ERA. Greg Rohan had two hits and two RBIs.
