6/14 Roster moves
The Cubs made a few roster moves on Tuesday, adding right-handed reliever Chris Carpenter from Double-A Tennessee and activating Reed Johnson from the disabled list. They sent Tyler Colvin and Casey Coleman to Triple-A Iowa to make room. Carpenter, a third-round pick in 2008, had been a starter his entire career until the Arizona Fall League last October when he was switched to relief. The Cubs decided Coleman needed to go back and get on a regular routine.
Johnson’s was added about one hour before the game. He needed to pass all tests after being hit in the head by a pitch on Saturday in his rehab outing. He started vs. the Brewers.
Colvin hasn’t gotten on track since he was called up, and struggled through an 0-for-34 skid that ended last Thursday.
