6/15 Minor League roundup

Alberto Cabrera gave up five runs on 10 hits over six innings and picked up the win as Iowa defeated Omaha, 11-5, on Tuesday. Scott Moore hit a three-run homer and Ty Wright had three hits, two RBIs and scored three runs. Alfonso Soriano went 0-for-6 in his rehab start. He’s eligible to be activated Wednesday.

Tennessee had Tuesday off. The Smokies’ magic number for clinching the North Division first-half championship is two entering Wednesday’s game against Chattanooga.

Zach Rosscup threw five shutout innings to help Daytona beat Brevard County, 3-1. Rosscup struck out nine and gave up three hits. Evan Crawford and Chad Noble each had two hits. The Daytona Cubs clinched the first half North Division championship in the Florida State League.

Infielder Matt Cerda and catcher Mike Brenly were named as replacements for the Florida State League North All-Star team. Cerda takes the spot of Junior Lake, who was promoted to Tennessee. Brenly replaces Clearwater’s Sebastian Valle, who is injured. The game will be played Saturday in Clearwater.

Richard Jones hit his 11th homer but it wasn’t enough as Peoria lost 12-5 to Wisconsin. The chiefs had a 5-1 lead in the fourth. Mat Szczur had two hits as did Jones and Anthony Giansanti.
