6/17 Smokies win North Division
Double-A Tennessee captured the North Division championship with a doubleheader split on Thursday against Chattanooga. Rebel Ridling hit a walkoff homer to give the Smokies a 4-3 win in the first game and the title. Tennessee lost the second game, 6-5.
“The guys had fun today,” Smokies manager Brian Harper said. “It was a great comeback. Now we have to make sure we get our pitchers in before the break and give the guys going to the All-Star Game a game off. We have to finish strong and see what changes the Cubs make for the second half.”
