7/2 Minor League report
Brad Snyder had two hits and three RBIs in Iowa’s 5-2 win over New Orleans. Tyler Colvin extended his hitting streak to five games with two hits and scored two runs. Justin Berg converted his second save. Ramon Ortiz started and was pulled after four scoreless innings. He’s expected to start Tuesday for the Cubs against the Nationals.
Brett Jackson hit his eighth home run but it wasn’t enough as Tennessee lost, 6-3, in 10 innings to Carolina. Junior Lake had three hits and a stolen base.
Daytona swept a doubleheader. Angel Guzman gave up one hit over two innings and struck out two in Daytona’s 2-1 win over Tampa in the first game. Justin Bour hit his 17th home run. In the second game, Dae-Eun Rhee threw seven shutout innings, giving up two hits and striking out six, in a 1-0 win.
Hayden Simpson gave up six runs on six hits over 1 2/3 innings in Peoria’s 18-4 loss to Burlington. Richard Jones hit his 14th homer.
Luis Liria threw five shutout innings in Boise’s 11-3 win over Yakima. Rafael Lopez and Ben Klafczynski each had three hits, including their first home runs.
Six Cubs had multi-hit games in Mesa’s 8-7 walkoff win over the Athletics.
