7/7 Cubs lineup
Darwin Barney is in the eighth spot Thursday for the Cubs in the series finale against the Nationals. The Cubs need to get Marlon Byrd back on track. He’s batting .176 (3-for-17) in July. Starlin Castro is hitting .190 (4-for-21) this month. Here’s the lineup:
RF Fukudome
SS Castro
3B Ramirez
1B Pena
C Soto
CF Byrd
LF Soriano
2B Barney
P Garza

i like this lineup, including Barney in the 8 hole. Castro bats .360plus in the 2 spot & hopefully Ramy’s hot bat stays hot batting 3rd
after thursday’s 6th inning magic maybe quade will stick with this lineup against righties
ya i do too… but what was Quade supposed to do earlier in the season? Leave Pena and Soto in the 4 and spots for automatic outs?? NO!! Sure Barney is not a 2 hitter but until now we needed Barney in the 2 hole putting Castro either 1 or 3… I am sorry but I just hate all the Barney haters out there… they have no clue… not saying it was you Paul but I have seen the posters elsewhere
I don’t recall Barney haters on this blog. I am with you on this petrey, I like Barney and think he was pressed in the two hole by default and Castro when in the leadoff spot was also there by default. In other words, Hendry did not provide the right players for ANY manager’s “good” line up. Hendry has neglected the lead off spot for some time now. Although I think Quade is over-rated (by Hendry), out managed (by most opposing managers) and a little to vain when it comes to his style (I hate when he refers to himself as “Mike Quade”) I do think he has little choice but to keep juggling the line up. No doubt our patience is being tested dramatically this season.
