7/9 Minor League report
Jay Jackson gave up two runs on seven hits over six innings and struck out eight but Iowa lost, 4-0, to New Orleans. DJ LeMahieu extended his hitting streak to eight games.
Dustin Harrington had two hits, including his first homer, but it wasn’t enough as Daytona lost to Charlotte, 8-3. Michael Burgess had two hits, both doubles.
Carlos Zambrano gave up one unearned run on three hits and three walks over four innings in Peoria’s 4-1, 10-inning loss to Beloit. It was a rehab start for Zambrano, who struck out four. Matt Szczur, who will play in the All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, had two hits. Szczur also will be promoted to Daytona after the All-Star break.
The Chiefs made some other roster moves: pitcher Su-Min Jung will go to Short-Season Boise; lefty Brent Ebinger to Class AA Tennessee; and lefty Graham Hicks placed on the DL. Pitcher Robinson Lopez was activated from the DL and Ben Klafczynski added from Boise.
Yao-Lin Wang gave up two runs on four hits over five innings in Boise’s 4-3 loss to Everett. Pin-Chieh Chen had two hits, including a double.
Jean Sandoval gave up two runs on three hits over five innings in Mesa’s 5-2 win over the Brewers. Taiwan Easterling had two hits, including a double and a triple.
