7/12 Minor League report

The Iowa Cubs are in fourth place at the All-Star break with a 41-50 record. They should get a boost with the additions of Brett Jackson and Ryan Flaherty, who will join the team Thursday.

Nelson Perez had two hits, including his sixth home run, in Tennessee’s 5-4 win over Chattanooga on Monday. Dallas Beeler started and gave up two runs on eight hits over six innings. Ryan Flaherty reached base three times, with a walk and two hits.

Dae-Eun Rhee gave up two runs on four hits over seven innings in Daytona’s 5-2 win over Charlotte in the first game of a doubleheader. Logan Watkins had three hits. In the second game, Casey Harman threw five shutout innings in a 2-1 Daytona win. Watkins had two more hits as did Evan Crawford and Dustin Harrington.

Elliot Soto had two hits in Peoria’s 2-1, 10-inning loss to Cedar Rapids. Eric Jokisch pitched well, throwing seven shutout innings.

Luis Liria gave up four runs (two earned) on four hits over five innings in Boise’s 4-0 loss to Everett. Wilson Contreras had three hits. Kyler Burke, a converted outfielder, gave up a hit and a walk in four scoreless innings in relief.

Hayden Simpson gave up three runs on four hits over two innings in Mesa’s 12-5 loss to the Giants. Taiwan Easterling had three hits and scored two runs.
