7/27 Cubs lineup
Blake DeWitt is starting in left field Wednesday night for the Cubs as they try to even the series against the Brewers. Alfonso Soriano is scuffling, batting .171 (12-for-70) in July. Kosuke Fukudome, who is batting .273 against right-handers, also is back in the lineup in right. DeWitt is batting .195 as a pinch-hitter and .285 when he’s starting. Carlos Zambrano faces Zack Greinke, who is 7-4 with a 4.4 ERA. Here’s the lineup:
RF Fukudome
SS Castro
3B Ramirez
1B Pena
CF Byrd
C Soto
LF DeWitt
2B Barney
P Zambrano
– Carrie Muskat

Hendry acquired DeWitt for second base miscalculating his own in house option of Barney and now Hendry’s choice of manager is trying to get DeWitt in left field….why? Certainly not because DeWitt is a GOOD OUTFILELDER, duh. Is it just to save Hendry’s some dignity by trotting DeWitt out in left field to remind the world of Hendry’s acquisiton of yet another sub-par player? We have actual OUTFIELEDERS somewhere….don’t we? Wouldn’t Campana be the better choice with his defense and speed? And we should’t lose sight of the fact it is only because Hendry signed Soriano for SIX YEARS TOO MANY that this inferior manager is even TRYING use the lessor of all evils in left field. Hendry general manages, Quade manages and Ricketts watches…while Rome burns. Of course there is no doubt the chance of DeWitt getting a hit or an RBI and Ricketts will be fooled yet again into thinking both Hendry and Quade are geniuses. I’m sure Milwaukee is scared to take the field tonight. Does anybody else feel any victory by the Cubs is now purely by chance?
