8/2 Minor League report
Shane Robinson hit a walkoff grand slam off Scott Maine Monday to lead Memphis to an 8-7 win over the Iowa Cubs. The I-Cubs dropped to 3-8 on their road trip, and now are a season-low 16 games under .500. Iowa hasn’t been this low since finishing the 2000 season 57-87. Casey Coleman gave up two runs on four hits over six innings and struck out eight. Bryan LaHair went 3-for-5 with a double and Jonathon Mota hit his fifth home run. Chris Robinson had two hits and one RBI.
Marco Carrillo gave up one run on four hits over seven innings in Tennessee’s 5-2 win over Birmingham. Josh vitters hd two hits and one RBIs and Matthew Spencer drove in two runs.
Rafael Valdes hit a game-winning RBI single with two outs in the 10th to lead Daytona to a 4-3 win over Jupiter. Angel Guzman started, and threw two scoreless innings. Matt Szczur had two hits, including a triple, and stole a base. Abner Abreu, acquired from the Indians in the Kosuke Fukudome deal, hda two hits, including a double.
* Congrats to Daytona’s Greg Rohan, named Florida State League Player of the Week. He batted .486 in seven games with three homers, two doubles and eight RBIs.
Starling Peralta gave up two runs on five hits over five innings in Peoria’s 8-6 win over Clinton. richard Jones had three hits, including his 18th home run. Dustin Geiger had three hits, including a double, and scored two runs.
Hayden Simpson gave up one run on three hits over four innings in Mesa’s 4-3 loss to the Indians.
