8/17 Dempster’s 22q tour goes on the road
Ryan Dempster’s Family Foundation is hitting the road now through Aug. 27 to spread awareness of the little known genetic disorder, 22q11.2 deletion syndrome or “22q” for short (sometimes known as DiGeorge Syndrome or VCFS.) The Dempster Family Foundation will visit parent-organized awareness events and fundraisers. The goal is to share information, create new fans and light up the social media scene with posts from the road and online video blogging — all to drive awareness of 22q .
The highlight of the tour features a 39-foot elite RV/Tour Bus wrapped with information about the syndrome and interactive messaging that encourages viewers to snap pictures of the awareness bus and post to the internet. The use of “QR codes” on the bus provides direct links to Dempster websites, Facebook and Twitter for anyone using a smart phone. The 22q Awareness Tour is driving awareness every minute it’s on the road, and will travel over 3,500 miles before the end of August.
The festivities kicked off last week in Atlanta when Dempster met with more than 100 people from 22q families in the region.
