8/17 Minor League report
Bryan LaHair hit his 33rd home run and Jay Jackson gave up three runs on eight hits over 6 2/3 innings in Iowa’s 7-3 win over Salt Lake. Brett Jackson had two hits and two RBIs. LaHair leads all of Minor League baseball with 33 homers and is four away from tying the Iowa franchise record for homers in a single season. He has hit safely in seven of his last eight games. It was Jay Jackson’s third straight quality start. Blake Parker converted his third save.
Brooks Raley gave up three earned runs on nine hits over five innings in Tennessee’s 11-6 win over Jackson. Junior Lake hit his fourth home run and Josh Vitters had two hits and two RBIs. Steve Clevenger had two hits and three RBIs. Rafael Dolis converted his 14th save.
Daytona committed three errors in a 6-3 loss to Brevard County. Angel Guzman, pitching on his injury rehab assignment, gave up two runs — both unearned — on two hits over two innings. Matt Szczur had three hits and Michael Burgess had two hits and two RBIs.
Peoria had the day off and the Chiefs play host to Wisconsin on Wednesday.
Austin Reed gave up two runs on five hits in Boise’s 4-1 loss to Tri-City. Pin-Chieh Chen had two hits to extend his hitting streak to five games.
Hayden Simpson gave up one run on two hits over two innings in Mesa’s 9-1 loss to the Reds. Marco Hernandez had two hits.
