8/20 Minor League report

Chris Rusin gave up one run on six hits over seven innings to help Iowa beat Salt Lake, 4-1, on Friday. Lou Montanez had three hits and one RBIs and Scott Maine converted his 11th save.

Trey McNutt gave up two runs on seven hits over seven innings in Tennessee’s 3-2 win over Jackson. Nelson Perez hit his eighth home run and Steve Clevenger had two hits.

Logan Watkins hit his fourth homer but it wasn’t enough as Daytona lost, 3-2, to Dunedin. Angel Guzman, continuing his rehab from shoulder surgery, started and gave up one run on two hits over 1 1/3 innings. Dae-Eun Rhee gave up two runs on five hits over 6 2/3 innings in relief. He struck out 11.

Frank Del Valle threw 5 1/3 shutout innings in Peoria’s 8-2 win over Wisconsin. Arismendy Alcantara had three hits and one RBIs and Richard Jones was 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

The Chiefs placed Smaily Borges on the DL with a strained calf and promoted John Andreoli

from Mesa of the Arizona Rookie League. Andreoli was selected in the 17th round of the June

First-Year Player Draft.

Yao-Lin Wang gave up two runs on four hits over 4 1/3 innings in Boise’s 3-2 win over Spokane. Dustin Harrington had two hits and Oliver Zapata reached base three times.

It has been a treat to see the Iowa Cubs play professional baseball in Salt Lake these 4 games..there are some concerns but the future of the Cubs definitely has talent and enthusiasm for the game.
