9/2 Wood Celebrity Bowling Tourney Sept. 18
Kerry Wood and his wife Sarah will hold the sixth annual Kerry Wood Strike Zone Celebrity Bowling Tournament fundraiser on Sept. 18 at 10pin Bowling Lounge, 330 N. State Street, Chicago. The tournament, which also features an online auction, will benefit the Wood Family Foundation. The tournament has raised more than $2 million for children in the Chicago area.
When White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen kicked Cubs catcher Geovany Soto’s mask in a heated dispute, Wood got Soto to autograph it. Wood also had all nine Opening Day starters autograph a ball. Other items include a six-course dinner for 10 people at the Wood’s home in Chicago prepared by “Chef Hans” Aeshbacher and Luigi Negronian; an autographed ukulele and CD of Eddie Vedder’s “Ukulele Songs;” a chance to throw out the first pitch or be a member of the grounds crew at Wrigley Field in 2012; two tickets to a 2012 taping of Saturday Night Live in New York.
For more info, go to www.WoodFamilyFoundation.org to bid.
The event will have 24 corporate-sponsored teams and a celebrity captain assigned to each. The online auction is now live and will close at 10 p.m. CT on Sept. 17. The auction will continue at the event, Sept. 18.
