9/5 I-Cubs close season with win
Iowa defeated Omaha, 7-2, on Monday in the regular season finale for the Cubs’ Triple-A team. A crowd of 12,658 was at Principal Park, second largest of the year, and put the I-Cubs over the 500,000 mark in attendance for the season. Three runs scored on an error in the fifth hen Lorenzo Cain dropped Marquez Smith’s fly ball with the bases loaded. The error broke a 2-2 tie and Chris Robinson followed with an RBI double to go ahead, 6-2. Brett Jackson got things started with a leadoff homer in the first. Jay Jackson (8-14), who has given the I-Cubs six straight quality starts, went five innings, and gave up two runs on five hits.
