9/15 Smokies lose Game 1
Mobile scored five runs with two outs in the third inning en route to a 6-3 win Wednesday over Tennessee in Game 1 of the Southern League Championship Series. A.J. Pollock hit a two-run single and Ryan Wheeler added a three-run homer in the third to give Patrick Corbin (1-1) the win. Marco Carrillo took the loss, giving up five runs on four hits and a walk. The Smokies took a 1-0 lead on Jae-Hoon Ha’s homer in the first. Pinch-hitter Ty Wright hit a two-run homer in the fifth to close to 5-3 but that’s as close as the Smokies could get.
Game 2 will be Thursday in Mobile. Brooks Raley is slated to start for the Smokies against Jarrod Parker.
