9/21 Castro collects hit No. 198
Starlin Castro said he wanted to get 200 hits at home and he is now two away from the magic number. He doubled to lead off the first inning Wednesday for his National League-leading 198th hit, but was thrown out at third trying to stretch his hit. He’s now has reached safely in 34 straight games, tying the longest stretch by a Cubs shortstop. Woody English, who reached in 34 straight in 1929. Castro is the first Cubs player to reach in 34 in a row since Jerome Walton had a 43-game streak in 1989. At 21, Castro will be the youngest Cubs player to total 200 hits. Billy Herman (206 hits in 1932) and Augie Galan (203 hits in 1935) were both 23 when they reached the milestone.

Castro COULD be the youngest Cubs player to total 200 hits….don’t put the goats before the cart. Or is it black cats?
