10/6 AFL update – Thursday’s game
Josh Vitters went 2-for-4 with two RBIs but it wasn’t enough as the Mesa Solar Sox lost, 8-7, to Surprise on Thursday in Arizona Fall League play at HoHoKam Park. DJ LeMahieu was 1-for-5 and Junior Lake 0-for-5. On Friday, the Solar Sox play the Salt River Rafters at the new Salt River facility in Scottsdale.
Andrew Cashner was expected to make his first appearance in the AFL on Saturday at HoHoKam. Cashner will pitch one inning in his first two outings, then be stretched out to two innings, depending on pitch count. He’s building up arm strength after being sidelined this season with a strained right rotator cuff.
