11/1 Epstein, Hoyer meet with Quade
Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer met with manager Mike Quade for six, seven hours last week to discuss their vision for the Cubs. As to whether Quade will return as manager should be determined soon.
“It was a good meeting, a productive meeting, a thorough meeting,” Epstein said Tuesday. “Mike is clearly a good baseball guy. We have a lot to process. We’re going to speak again shortly and we hope to have a resolution on this matter, I’d say within a week from now. We understand it’s important for all involved to make a determination and move forward.”
Part of the need for a quick decision is because the contracts of some of Quade’s coaches ended on Monday.
“We’re still in the process of thinking about that conversation and bouncing that off each other,” Hoyer said Tuesday. “[Quade] is a great baseball guy. That relationship is key. I look forward to creating that with someone the way I had with Bud Black in San Diego. We’ll try to make a decision here quickly.”

There may be only one circumstance that would offset the anticipation of Mr. Epstein’s reign and that would be the retention of Quade as manager. A quick decision would be appreciated by all us fans that have grown sooooooo sick and tired of Quade’s “great baseball guy” style of managing because the sooner we know IF Quade is our manager for 2012 the sooner we can plan our non-Cub activities. Just imagine how worse our Cubs would have performed last season with somebody that was just a “So-so baseball guy”. Good thing Hendry chose a “Great baseball guy”. Here’s hoping that Hoyer is just brushing up on his politeness when it comes to his interactions with Quade.
