11/7 Mike Maddux to talk to Cubs Wednesday
Mike Maddux confirmed Monday he has withdrawn his name from consideration for the Red Sox manager’s job but he will interview with the Cubs on Wednesday at Wrigley Field. The Cubs had asked permission to speak with the Rangers pitching coach about their managerial opening. Maddux talked to his family before deciding to go ahead and come to Chicago. As for the Red Sox job, Maddux told Peter Gammons: “We’re in a good situation. My family moved here, the kids will be in school for three more years here.” The Cubs interviewed Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin on Friday and Brewers hitting coach Dale Sveum on Monday.

WOW, that’s interesting news! Maybe Ron Washington’s job is in jeopardy?
If he references his kid’s school and his moving to Texas as being the “good situation”
I would agree with Bob that it seems likely he WANTS to stay with the Rangers….maybe to manage (eventually)? So….why the interview with the Cubs? He would uproot his “good situation” if it was for managing the Cubs but not the RedSox? I like the idea of Maddux as manager, he always seemed to be a positive (and smart) addition to all the teams that employed him. Of cousre, I’ll like any candidate with the middle name of Imnotquade, such as Dale Imnotquade Sveum……
