DJ LeMahieu had two hits and Josh Vitters was 1-for-4 in Mesa’s 3-2 loss to Surprise on Wednesday in Arizona Fall League play. Cubs prospect Jeff Beliveau gave up one hit and struck out two in two innings of relief. On Thursday, Mesa plays host to Scottsdale.
In Venezuela, Austin Bibens-Dirkx improved to 3-2 after a win Wednesday for Zulia. Bibens-Dirkx gave up one run on four hits and struck out four in the win.
