3/15 Bid on Babe & Lou ball at Dempster event

Want to own a piece of baseball history? A baseball signed by Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig will be featured in the live auction at the Dempster Foundation Casino Night May 9 in Chicago. The baseball was donated by the Sutherland family, and obtained from the Heritage Auction Galleries. It comes with a certificate of authentication by James Spence Authentication, one of the top authenticators in sports memorabilia. Proceeds from the sale will benefit Children’s Memorial Hospital’s new state-of-the-art facility, the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, opening June 9. You must be present to bid on the baseball.

The third annual Dempster Foundation Casino Night will be at the Palmer House Chicago. Guests can step back in time for a night on the town in an old Chicago theme for this year’s event. Ryan Dempster and other Cubs players and celebrity friends will take part. There will be a unique live and silent auction, casino games and entertainment. Proceeds go to Strike Out 22q and the Ryan Dempster Foundation.

In addition to the baseball, guests will have opportunities to bid on one-of-a-kind auction packages, experiences, and sports memorabilia. The silent and live auctions include a “Man Cave” package from Abt valued at $3,000, a Don Mattingly autographed baseball bat, a two-night stay at Reynolds Plantation Golf Resort and Spa in Georgia, a Fergie Jenkins and Ryan Dempster autographed stadium seat, a NASCAR race experience from Chicagoland Speedway, a Sammy Sosa autographed baseball, and a behind the scenes tour of the MLB Network. For more information, go to  www.dempsterfoundation.org.
