3/22 Sveum to name Opening Day starter Friday
Dale Sveum said he’ll name the Cubs Opening Day starter on Friday. The Cubs open the season April 5 against the Nationals at Wrigley Field and have named Stephen Strasburg their starter. Did that influence Sveum’s decision?
“Maybe,” Sveum said.
Sveum will likely chose between Ryan Dempster and Matt Garza, who started on Thursday against the Rangers.

No drama, no anticipation, no big deal. As if this is keeping us on the edge of our seats. It’s right up there with Pittsburgh’s and Kansas City’s season opening pitchers.
Dempster or Garza??? Obviously it won’t be the best performing starting pitcher of spring training….Garza is the better pitcher but Dempster out performed him this spring so more than likely it will be Dempster for that and his service time.
