4/3 Double-A Tennessee roster

Double-A Tennessee announced its Opening Day roster on Tuesday. The Smokies will have 14 players back from 2011 and also include several members of the Florida State League champion Daytona team. Nine of the 13 pitchers on Tennessee’s roster were part of the team’s run to the Southern League Championship in 2011.  The staff will be led by Trey McNutt and include Dallas Beeler, Daniel Berlind, Alberto Cabrera, Marcus Hatley, Brooks Raley, Kevin Rhoderick, Ryan Searle and Nick Struck, as well as newcomers Jeffry Antigua, Frank Batista, Dae-Eun Rhee and Casey Weathers.

Also on the team are infielders Nate Samson and Jonathan Mota, plus 2011 Southern League All-Star Rebel Ridling, who hit .309 with 20 home runs last season. Justin Bour, who hit 23 homers last season in the Florida State League, will join the Smokies along with Matt Cerda, Elliot Soto and Logan Watkins. Catcher Michael Brenly, a two-time Florida Sate League All-Star, will join the Smokies in 2012.  Brenly will be joined by Juan Apodaca, who was signed by the Cubs in the offseason.  Jim Adduci, Jae-Hoon Ha and Michael Burgess also will be on the roster.

The Smokies begin the 2012 season on Thursday at Chattanooga.
