4/5 Opening Day tidbits
* Ryan Dempster is the first Cubs pitcher to strike out at least 10 since Lon Warneke fanned 13 on April 17, 1934, at Cincinnati. Dempster also is the first Cubs pitcher to hold a team scoreless through at least seven innings in the season opener since Rick Sutcliffe did so april 9, 1985, against the Pirates (7 2/3 innings).
* In four career Opening Day starts, Dempster now is 0-1 with a 4.39 ERA.
* The loss was the third straight in the season opener. The Cubs are 1-5 in their last six season openers and 2-4 in the last six home openers.
