Brett Jackson had four hits and scored four runs to help Iowa end a six-game losing streak and beat Memphis, 13-4, on Tuesday night. Jackson doubled to leadoff the game, the first of 11 batters to the plate in the first. Jackson added another double in the first. Jay Jackson picked up the win, striking out six and giving up three runs on six hits over five innings. Dave Sappelt added a two-run homer, his third hit of the game. The I-Cubs finished with a season-high 13 hits. Adrian Cardenas had three hits and three RBIs.
Brooks Raley gave up three runs on eight hits over six innings in Tennessee’s 6-5 loss to Montgomery. Logan Watkins and Michael Burgess each had two hits, including home runs. Watkins had two RBIs. Kevin Rhoderick gave up one hit in one inning of relief.
Austin Kirk gave up two runs on five hits over eight innings in Daytona’s 7-3, 10-inning loss to Clearwater. Arismendy Alcantara had two hits and Rubi Silva had two RBIs. Daytona manager Brian Harper had a closed door meeting with the team after the game. Harper told reporters he wanted to emphasize the importance of “sticking together and fighting through this.” Daytona is 5-6 at home with five blown saves.
Peoria had Tuesday off and opens a series Wednesday night against Kane County.
