5/6 Minor League report
Making his first start since rejoining Triple-A Iowa, Randy Wells gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings in a 7-3 loss to New Orleans on Saturday. The I-Cubs gave up three runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth. Anthony Rizzo extended his hitting streak to 12 games, going 1-for-3 with a double.
Dae-Eun Rhee gave up three runs on six hits over six innings in Tennessee’s 8-7 win over Montgomery. Jim Adduci had two hits and two stolen bases and Justin Bour had three RBIs.
Frank Del Valle gave up one run on six hits over six innings in Daytona’s 11-1 win over Jupiter. Nelson Perez had five hits, including his fifth homer, and two RBIs. Matt Szczur had three hits, including two doubles. Arismendy Alcantara had four hits, stole a base and scored a run.
Cuban pitcher Gerardo Concepcion gave up seven runs — two earned — on six hits over one inning in Peoria’s 20-5 loss to Quad Cities. Paul Hoilman extended his hitting streak to 18 games, hitting a triple.
Luis Valbuena had three hits to help Iowa beat New Orleans, 1-0, scoring the winning run on a walkoff wild pitch with one out in the ninth. Matt Cerda had two hits, including a home run, and Justin Bour hit his fourth homer in Tennessee’s 8-7 loss to Montgomery. Daytona lost 6-5 to Jupiter as Zach Cates gave up four earned runs on six hits over three innings. Greg Rohan had two hits, both doubles. Kyler Burke gave up three runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings in Peoria’s 4-3 loss to Kane County.
