5/8 Minor League notes

Casey Coleman gave up two hits over seven scoreless innings but did not get a decision in Iowa’s 1-0 win over New Orleans on Monday. Brett Jackson scored the only run of the game in the eighth when a balk was called. Coleman struck out nine and walked one, and helped himself by hitting a double. Scott Maine earned the win in relief.

Nick Struck gave up two runs on five hits over six innings in Tennessee’s 4-2 win over Birmingham. Rebel Ridling homered, and Junior Lake was 1-for-4.

Erik Jokisch gave up four hits over seven scoreless innings in Daytona’s 6-2 win over Jupiter. Jokisch struck out 11. Matt Szczur had three hits and one RBI.

Paul Hoilman had three hits, including a grand slam, to extend his hitting streak to 20 games and power Peoria to a 7-5 win over Quad Cities. P.J. Francescon got the win, giving up two earned runs on three hits and three walks over six innings. Hoilman drove in five runs and has 24 for the season.
